First opened in 1912 as a two-room schoolhouse, the Bayou Lacombe Museum has been serving the St. Tammany community for over 40 years as a cultural center. The museum is home to a vast collection of artifacts that tell the story of Lacombe from the 18th to the early 20th centuries.

Renovated in February 2019, the museum features five main exhibits exploring the history of Lacombe, including: the history of the Choctaw; the life and influence of poet-priest Fr. Adrien Rouquette, who moved to Lacombe to nurture the local Choctaw and write about the beauty of the area; John Davis Lumber Industry and its influence on the area; rural life in the early 20th century in Lacombe; and the Hall of Heroes, which honors local residents for their military service.

The museum is open Thursday and Friday, 12-4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults (ages 18 - 64), $2 for senior citizens (65 & over), $1 for students (ages 7-17) and free for children 6 & under. Group rates & family memberships available.
