New Orleans Polo Club presents the 2nd Annual Women's Charity Polo Tournament on Sunday, November 4 at Summergrove Farm in Folsom.
This year's tournament will benefit Thoroughbred Retirement of Louisiana (TRNL), a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Covington, Louisiana that has a direct relationship to polo and other equine activities in the area. TRNL is dedicated to the rescue, retraining, and rehoming of Thoroughbred horses after their time on the racetrack.
Off-Track Thoroughbreds, or OTTBs, have proven themselves to excel in many other disciplines after their racing career ends, including pro, jumping, eventing, tail riding, dressage, ranch work, and rodeo. Despite this, a surplus of horses comes off the track with a scarcity of homes for them. The Thoroughbred Retirement Network of Louisiana invests time, love and hard work into each and every rescue horse they acquire.
TRNL team members will in attendance to share information about their organization and their horses available for adoption, as well as offering TRNL merchandise for sale. Local OTTB's will be showcased at half-time. In addition, all former racehorses playing in the tournament will be recognized by name at half-time.
The event is casual and family friendly, tail-gating is encouraged, and, new this year, a silent auction. Food will be available for purchase, and BYOB welcome! Players from the UK will join local players and others from around the country.
Admission is $20; Children 12 and under admitted free.
