The St. Tammany Art Association presents its 53rd National Juried Artists Exhibition, the Summer Show, opening Saturday, July 14, 2018. The opening reception will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free.
The Summer Show is open to artists nationwide who must submit works completed in the past two years.This year, a total of 336 works were submitted by 121 artists representing 22 states, with 27 pieces selected for exhibition. The 2018 show features 24 artists from California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico and Washington.
This year the exhibition is juried by Katie Pfohl, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art for the New Orleans Museum of Art. Pfohl previously served as a curator at the Louisiana State University Museum of Art, and possesses a wide range of academic and curatorial experience, having worked in three of the premier art museums in the country—the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
The $1,000 Best of Show Award is funded by Heather Case in memory of her grandmother, Miriam Barranger. Additional funding for awards is provided by Roberta D. Bruck, Carlos Sanchez and Gail and Henry Hood.
The exhibition ends on August 18 with a closing reception 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. featuring conversations with the artists. Admission to the receptions and gallery is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the St. Tammany Art Association at (985) 892-8650.

St. Tammany Art Association is located at 320 N Columbia Street in historic downtown Covington. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm and Saturdays, 11 am to 4 pm. Exhibitions are free and open to the public.
