The 24th Annual Youth Fishing Event at Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge will be held Saturday, June 10. Kids from ages 4 to 12 learn the skills and fun of fishing. Registration is required.
The rodeo is sponsored by the Southeast Louisiana Wildlife Refuges in collaboration with Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges Inc., and is supported by many community partners. Held at the Pear River Turnaround Fishing Access Site at Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge. Fishing is from 7:30 - 11 a.m.
The event is limited to 150 kids on a first-come, first-served basis and there is a $15.00 registration fee. Participants in the fishing event receive a T-shirt, rod-and-reel, tackle, bait, and lunch. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Many local and national sponsors contribute supplies, services and cash toward making this an exciting day for kids.
The event will be held at the Pearl River Turnaround at the Bogue Chitto NWR. To get there, take I-59 to the Pearl River Turnaround Exit 11, and turn right. Backtrack on the frontage road about a mile, and the entrance is on the left.
