Rounding out a season of compelling stories at Playmakers, Inc. Community Theater is a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Marcello Barbero, also making his directorial debut at the theater, directs Playmakers’ season closer, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, June 15-July 1, 2018. An eccentric inventor sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to fly. Trouble occurs when the villainous Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself, and the family must pull together to outwit him.
Based on the beloved 1968 MGM Motion Picture version of Ian Fleming's children's book, and featuring unforgettable music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a high-flying, fun-filled adventure for the entire family, filled with amazing stage spectacle and unforgettable songs, including the Academy Award-nominated title song. Adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams and licensed Script Adapted by Ray Roderick.
Performances are 8pm Fridays and Saturdays and 2pm Sundays (no show June 17). Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for students.
Located approximately 4 miles north of Covington at 19106 Playmakers Rd., off Hwy. 437/ N. Lee Rd. At Playmakers Rd., turn left and follow through the San Souci Forest to the end of the road. You will be directed where to park.

It is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, and as administered by St. Tammany Parish.
