The 1st Annual DTC (DownTown Covington) Film Festival comes to the Southern Hotel in Covington, Louisiana January 12-13, 2018. DTC aims to spotlight unique stories and award filmmakers for their cinematic achievements, providing a welcoming environment for them to screen their work and interact with audiences in one of Louisiana's most beautiful hotels.
All films will screen at the luxurious Southern Hotel in the heart of Downtown Covington, located just 45 minutes north of New Orleans. The Southern Hotel’s vaunted history of hospitality began in 1907 as a physical and spiritual retreat where visitors could re-energize surrounded by the area's breezy, piney woods and mineral springs. Today visitors can enjoy downtown Covington's art galleries, boutiques, award winning restaurants, twice-weekly Farmer's Market and parks, as well as live music and nightlife all within walking distance of the hotel.
The festival will screen shorts and features, including narratives, documentaries, and student films, with panel discussions and opportunities for filmmakers, audiences and judges to interact.
The selection process will be conducted by a panel of judges not associated with the hotel. Awards will be given for Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Short Documentary Film and Best Student Film.
