With St. Tammany Parish's many waterways, be sure to be safe out on the water! This spring, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary Flotilla in Slidell will provide three, free boating safety courses at the First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger St., Slidell. The classes are offered free of charge courtesy of the USCG Auxiliary.

Classes will be held from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on April 21, May 19 and June 16, 2018. Class breaks for lunch (on your own) around noon and concludes with an exam. Those who pass the exam will receive a Louisiana Safe Boating Card, which is required for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1984 who wishes to operate a boat in the State of Louisiana.

No registration is necessary; however, you may register in advance for this and other classes on the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries' website, 

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 081-04-08 is located in Slidell, Louisiana. This all volunteer search and rescue organization serves the needs of the boating public in the areas of public education, vessel safety inspections, active Coast Guard augmentation, and on-the-water patrols.
