The Jane Austen Foundation of LA, Inc. presents the 11th Annual Jane Austen Literary Festival in Old Mandeville April 7-8, 2018.
The festival celebrates the life and times of English Jane Austen, author of such enduring novels as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Park. Austen lived in the Regency Era in England from the late 1700's to mid-1800's, and this festival offers dozens of opportunities to bring the era to life once again.
The event features the "Perfect Love Letter" Writing Contest, the Looking for Mr. Darcy reading contest and No Plain Janes costume competition. All festival goers are strongly encouraged to costume in Regency-Victorian era English attire the entire weekend. The festival includes lectures and panels by authors and professors, readings, a Regency-era reception with entertainment, a Sunday brunch and more.
Some events are free and some require advance ticket purchase. All activities will take place at the Mandeville Trailhead, 675 Lafitte St., as well as local restaurants in Old Mandeville. For details on locations, times and tickets, visit the website.
