Slidell's walking parade marches right out of Mardi Gras and into March! For the first time since its founding in 1984, the creative krewe leaves Carnival season to hold its parade on March 10, 2018, the night before Slidell's St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Mona Fest will feature costumed marchers, dancing clubs, brass bands, and an eclectic mix of grocery carts, bicycles, and rickshaws, as well as their signature throw, the Moonpie.
Mona marches from Robert St. through Olde Towne along Cleveland, Second, Erlanger and First, and ends at the 200 block of Carey Street with a free street party. All are invited.
The Krewe of Mona Lisa and MoonPie supports the arts, Olde Towne Slidell, and good humor. As such, all members are requested to design their costumes and "floats" based on the krewe theme. No motorized vehicles allowed. This is a fun, family event. Last, let no fake MoonPies be thrown!
