The all-women’s night parade celebrates their 20th anniversary. This year’s 18-float procession, built by Mardi Gras Decorators, is entitled “Selene Through 20 Years.” Selene closes the Carnival parade season in Slidell.

Floats depict themes from the Krewe’s past parades like “This is How We Roll,” “Selene Goes on Vacation,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and more. The Grand Marshals are the City of Slidell’s First Ladies, Mrs. Glenda Drennan, wife of Mayor Freddy Drennan, and Mrs. Dania Fandal, wife of Chief of Police Randy Fandal. A special float is dedicated to past royalty, Queens and Kings from the past 20 years.

Hand-made elaborately decorated purses are Selene’s signature throw, and parade-goers can also catch lighted star wands and a variety of specialty beads.

Queen Selene XX and King Selene XX is chosen at the krewe's annual Coronation Ball (December 9, 2017).  Dedicated to community outreach year-round, the Krewe of Selene supports Ladies for Liberty by sending items to troops overseas, a food drive to support Second Harvest Food Bank, and Project Christmas, which helps local families in need.
