Following is programming at the Northlake Nature Center (NNC), a non-profit organization that provides nature related educational and healthy active lifestyle programs for the general public and student groups. The NNC manages a 400-acre Nature Preserve east of Mandeville, LA. offering over 8 miles of hiking and biking trails and a canoe launch, free for public use, open from dawn to dusk.

Most programs are free for members or $5 for non-members. Space is limited for most programs, with reservations required. Call (985) 626-1238 or email Rue@northlakenature.org to reserve your spot.

“Life on Paper” Creative Workshop Series with Mia Kaplan (Ages 9-15) Working from the environment of the Northlake Nature Center, Mia will encourage young artists to develop their own point of view while learning different ways of documenting the world around them. Using a variety of materials and approaches, the group will visit different sites along the trails to experiment with each technique in their new sketchbooks. Mia Kaplan, an accomplished artist and experienced educator with support provided by the Mia Kaplan Studio in Lacombe will be providing this workshop FREE OF CHARGE (materials included). Registration is limited to 15 students.

“Kundalini Yoga” with Sally Dunn
Kundalini Yoga is an active form of meditation using postures, breath and mantras. It is a yoga that practices meditation and movement to achieve a sense of spiritual, emotional and physical well-being. It is easy and fun, students leave with a feeling of happiness and peace.
Sally has studied under the late Yogi Bhajan for Kundalini yoga, Khentral Rinpoche in the practice of Dharma and S.N. Goenka in the practice of Vipassana meditation for over a decade and is a delight to be instructed by. Bring your own yoga mat and dress for the outdoor weather under the Pavilion at the Northlake Nature Center!

David will share his life-time passion and expertise with tips to riding the trails for the biking enthusiast and guide you through the back trails of the Northlake Nature Center’s 8+ miles of pure nature landscape delight! WINGS and WINE at THE WILD BIRD CENTER

Northlake Nature Center showcases its 6th annual wings slideshow of local birds and their toys, wine tastings with Acquistapace’s Covington Grocery, wing and wine contests with prizes, silent auction with local interest, taste breakers!
