Sample Louisiana's signature soup made by local chefs and superb home cooks at the Northshore Gumbo Cook-Off! Now in its 9th year, the annual event moves from March to November in 2018.
The cook-off is a cooperative effort of Slidell Little Theatre (SLT) and the Northshore Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) to raise funds for local projects that will enrich the lives of the community through the arts, education and personal development.
Funds raised through the Gumbo Cook-Off will be use by the non-profits to help each expand its community outreach projects. Portions of the proceeds will also be donated to the Homeless Outreach for Youth in St. Tammany (HOYST) Fund. SLT directs its proceeds toward the "Next Stage" project and Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program. The Northshore NAWIC chapter uses proceeds support programs like Block Kids, CAD and hand drafting contests, college scholarships and more.
HOYST uses its funds to support the development of programs and facilities for homeless kids in St. Tammany Parish. More than 17,000 school-age children and young adults benefit from the program.
Slidell Little Theatre is located just off the I-10 Fremaux Center exit on Nellie Drive. For more information about SLT, please visit www.slidelllittletheatre.com.
