The 9th Annual Northshore Half Marathon & 10 Miler returns to Louisiana's Northshore, St. Tammany Parish on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
The Northshore Half Marathon and 10 miler feature idyllic Louisiana scenery, starting and finishing under the mammoth moss covered oaks, winding through spectator-lined historic homes of Old Mandeville, along sparkling Lakeshore Drive and down the Tammany Trace as the sun rises over the crowd of runners. The course is 13.1 miles/21.1km (half marathon) or 10 miles (16.1km).
Race Highlights include:
- Flat, fast course
- 57 degree average start time temperature
- Chip timing
- Cool finisher’s medal
- Northshore Half race shirt
- 12 well-supported water stations
- USTAF Certified Course
- Overall and age-group awards
- Post-race party with beer, food and live music
- Great kickoff to your fall race calendar
The race is punctuated with water stations featuring local groups vying for your vote as “Best Race Water Stop," and water station competitors mean business with chances of music, costumes, and enthusiastic crowd support. Quaint businesses also line the route with employees and locals turning out to support the runners.
Starting and finishing in Fontainebleau State Park, just minutes from the foot of the Causeway Bridge, the course is famously flat and fast. Many runners claim this race as their favorite half marathon and as a PR race course. After months of sweltering heat and training in the South, temperatures typically start to cool around the time of the Northshore Half, and runners kick off fall race schedules with a cooler, brisk 13.1 or 10 mile race in south Louisiana.
Historic Old Mandeville and Fountainbleau State Park are just a quick drive from New Orleans or Baton Rouge, making them close enough in proximity to drive in the morning of and to enjoy either city following the race…but not before enjoying the "Burgers, Blues & Brews" post-race party, where you can lay out a picnic blanket, grab some Abita beers and a Mugshots hamburger or bowl of jambalaya, and listen to some great Louisiana bands.
This is a walker-friendly course with a ~18/min per mile pace cut off time. Finish line will stay open for 4 hours. A SAG wagon will be following the course at that pace.
Register before October 1 to save on registration fees; $70 before October 1 and $150 through October 20. This year, runners have a “Mail Me My Packet” option for $15 if registered before September 22. See details on the website.
From I-12, take US 190 (exit 63-A) south toward Mandeville. Continue east on US 190; the park is approximately 4 miles east of the city. There is plenty of free parking within Fontainebleau State Park. The $2 entry fee to the park is included in entry to the event. Simply follow the parking attendants and signs for parking. If guests arrive after the race has started please be prepared to pay park entrance fee.
It is suggested to arrive no later than 1 hr before race.
Registration will automatically close at 1,800 runners, so register early to guarantee your spot. Runners can register on the website, www.NorthshoreHalfMarathon.com, where race course information, fees and packet pick-up locations are also provided.
