Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres) takes one through loops, twists, and turns in preparation for the LPO's tour of Austria. With connections to both Salzburg and Vienna, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 was premiered by the composer himself in Vienna. Next up, "The Waltz King," J. Strauss Jr.’s Viennese waltz, Where the Citrons Bloom. The program concludes with the Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, a comic opera set in Vienna, written by Richard Strauss, who drew inspiration from the city of Salzburg throughout his career.
