The St. Tammany Parish Library, Folsom branch, presents the Annual Bastille Day Celebration with Bernie David and the Cajun Friends band in Folsom, Louisiana. Ah-eee! Venez dancer et manger avec nous! (Come dance and eat with us!)

In France, “Bastille Day” is called “Fête Nationale” (National Celebration) or more often “le quatorze juillet” (14 July), which is the actual date of the holiday.

Celebrate the French heritage of Louisiana with Cajun French music and food. All the members of “Bernie David and the Cajun Friends” band are local musicians. They are dedicated to promoting the traditional music of Acadiana, commonly known as “Cajun” music. Bernie David has been honored by the Acadian Museum as “A Living Legend”.

This two-hour event will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Folsom branch library from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Refreshments served will include soft drinks, boudin, and jambalaya.

The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited to 50 people and registration is required. Please stop by the Folsom branch, 82393 Railroad Avenue, Folsom, or call 985-796-9728 to register. Visit our website www.sttammany.lib.la.us for more information on library sponsored adult programs.
