Madisonville Old Fashioned Fourth

The Town of Madisonville, along with the Madisonville Chamber of Commerce, Madisonville Garden Club, Police Department and Fire Department will revive the Old Fashioned Fourth as it used to be.

Festivities get under way with a parade stating at 2:30 from the Maritime Museum to Town Hall. The parade will feature veterans, Boy Scout troupes, children on bikes and in wagons, Mimosa Queens of Madisonville and other units. All children in the area are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons scooters, etc. There will be awards for the best decorated vehicles.

At 3:30, there will be games for both children and adults, including horseshoes, sack races, balloon toss, tug of war, hula hoop, three legged race, and $.10 fish game.

At 4:00, there will be a pageant with four age groups; 5-6 Wee Miss, 7-8 Little Miss, 9-10 Young Miss and 11-12 Jr. Miss.

Hot dogs will be grilling, Jambalaya will be cooking and everyone is invited to bring a covered dish. There will be an ice cream making contest and an apple pie contest.

At 7:00pm a retreat and lowering of the Flag will take place. Individual fireworks will follow.

The Madisonville Garden Club will judge decorated houses in the area on July 3.
All residents are encouraged to come out, bring chairs, ice chests, blankets and a covered dish, plus individual fireworks, and celebrate the Madisonville Old Fashioned Fourth as it used to be.
