Southside Café and St. Tammany Fire District #1 present Metal of Honor Car and Bike Show on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Southside Café at 3154 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell.

The event is free and open to the public. Those who wish to participate can register at www.metalofhonorslidell.com for $25 per bike or auto ($35 day of event).

In addition to seeing new and classic cars and bikes, and vintage fire and law enforcement vehicles, guests will enjoy live music, an arts & crafts silent auction, and great food and drinks by local vendors. Southside Café will also be open for business.

A highlight of the event is a giant tug-of-war competition open to men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Fire Dept., Police Dept. and Sheriff Dept., plus participating bikers.

Another highlight is special guest and Slidell resident, former Marine and celebrity chef John Besh. Chef Besh will provide food from his popular New Orleans restaurant The American Sector, the proceeds of which will be provided to the benefit fund. Other food vendors will also donate to the fund.

Live entertainment includes music by The Spotted Dog Band featuring Papa P, The Crowe Brothers Band, Witness, and Tricks Band.

The Metal of Honor Auto and Bike Show is a benefit for Louisiana's wounded war veterans and the surviving families of those killed in action. Funds are dedicated to assisting service members who have sustained life-altering injuries such amputations and brain and spinal cord injuries, in an effort to help them resume normal, fulfilling, civilian lives.

Sponsors for this event include Support Our War Heroes, Slidell Magazine, Southside Café, St. Tammany Fire District #1, Silver Slipper, Landis Transport LLC, and Wilson's Graphics.
