Award-winning B&B in the historic district of Old Mandeville just five blocks from Lake Pontchartrain, 45 minutes from downtown New Orleans. The fully restored, 100-year-old home opened in 2016 and features two king-size suites with private entrances and private porches. Breakfast is fully stocked in the suite each afternoon so that guests can wake and dine at their leisure in the morning - either in their room or on the porch. Breakfast includes fresh pastries, quiche, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal and more. Dine out or take your to-go orders back to Blue Heron for a fireside meal in the garden. Guests of Blue Heron are within walking distance of the live oak-lined lakefront, award winning restaurants--most with outdoor dining options--shops, gastropubs, Pontchartrain Yacht Club, the Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall, the Tammany Trace and Mandeville Trailhead, where you'll find a splash pad, historic interpretive center, and amphitheater and gallery, where you can shop the farmers market on Saturday mornings, and at the right time of year, a concert that night. Just a short drive northeast are Fontainebleau State Park, Pelican Park and Castine Center, and popular retail, boutiques and dozens of restaurants. Blue Heron is owned and operated by Northshore natives Steven and Sarah Federer, who also live on the property along with their two children. Steven is a third generation restaurateur with a passion for food and Southern hospitality, and Sarah is a public relations practitioner who grew up in her parents' award-winning B&B in downtown Covington--Camellia House.
