Chillin' at the River Concert scheduled for March 17.

March in St. Tammany Parish…crawfish boils, free outdoor concerts, fun things to do outside while you soak up some Vitamin D... and celebrating the holidays of spring!

Get ready to start wearing your green early this year, because St. Patrick’s Day is mid-week, and we're not waiting! St. Ann Wine & Whiskey in Mandeville kicks off the festivities with Paddy’s at St. Ann’s, three evenings of live music on the patio Thursday through Saturday, March 11-13. Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux in Covington has a St. Patty’s Day Bash on Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., with live music by the Hard Eight Rock & Roll Band and games with prizes. Olde Towne Slidell shops, restaurants, and bars join the fun with a block party on Sunday starting at 12 p.m.  The Brass Monkey Draught Emporium will host live music all day starting at 11 a.m.

Roux 25 gastropub in Folsom celebrates on Sunday, too, with live music by Big Daddy O. Space is limited, so reserve your spot soon! Churches will be frying up loads of fish most Fridays until Easter, and you’ll also find crawfish boils popping up all around southeast Louisiana, like the free Backyard Crawfish Boil with live music at Abita Springs Café on Friday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Search for the Leprechaun's treasure and experience rainbow science during a special day of programming at the Children's Museum of St. Tammany on Tuesday, March 16th, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Get your timed admission tickets on their website.

Athletes will get the chance to strut their stuff at the Shamrock Sprint 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run, an annual fundraiser for cancer research that returns as a virtual event on March 13, and on the courts at Pelican Park for Paddles on Paddy’s Day Pickleball Tournament on March 17.

In recent years, Covington has held a St. Patrick’s Day parade through the historic district complete with bagpipers and Celtic dancers, culminating in a fun block party on Rutland Street. Instead, the city of Covington will celebrate the holiday with the first Chillin’ at the River concert of the year in Bogue Falaya Park on Thursday, March 18, starting at 5:30 p.m. The free, 2-hour concert features party band Four Unplugged. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and picnic if you like—coolers are welcome (including adult beverages). Don’t forget your face mask and take advantage of the spacious park to spread out!

Meanwhile, just up the street at Southern Hotel is a St. Patrick’s Day Céilí with traditional Celtic and Modern Irish music and “Liars and Limericks” with the Cypress Bar’s Shannon Stansbury. Admission is free, and Irish whiskies and food will be available for purchase.

And, the all-doggie Carnival krewe Mardi Paws is celebrating a March full of St. Paw-trick's fun to raise attention for some of the more difficult to adopt dogs from St. Tammany Parish Dept. of Animal Services animal shelter in Lacombe. Giveaways, social media contests, and a photo contest with prizes are detailed in the event on our calendar.

Be sure to check our event calendar often. With the great weather we've been having, and since moving into Phase 3, we're adding more events daily, including egg hunts, spring festivals and street fairs, food truck events, and more!
