Playmakers Theater brings its 64th season to a close with 1776, the super-patriotic, super-hit Broadway musical, which makes its Northshore premiere at the theater, just in time for July 4th fireworks! The winner of three Tony Awards, with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, 1776 docks at Playmakers Theater June 21st and then sails this historical and hysterical musical saga every Friday and Saturday 8pm and Sundays at 2pm until July 7th.
This summer the fireworks aren't just in the air, they're on the stage as the differing views of Franklin, Adams and other founding fathers direct Thomas Jefferson to write a Declaration of Independence from British rule. The dazzling song and dance depiction of the fight for freedom from English tyranny comes with a delightful twist: many of the founding fathers, including Jefferson, Franklin, Adams and Lee, will be performed by young women!
Catch the Broadway hit which set the stage for Hamilton at a fraction of the Hamilton’s cost: $30 for adults & $15 for students. Pick your reserved seats and buy tickets at www.playmakersinc.com.
