Formerly known as 'EarthFest', the Abita Springs Friends of the Park revamps the ecology- and environment-focused event in 2019 as the Abita Springs Tree Symposium and Great Green Give-Away.

Go Green on St. Patrick’s Day! The free event will be a fun, educational, family experience at the Abita Trailhead and Park on Sunday, March 17th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Native trees and shrubs will be given away. The event features Abita Art and Farmer’s Market, kids' planting activities and presentations by experts in horticulture and related fields. Trees generously provided by Apache Corporation.

The Abita Springs Friends of the Park was instrumental in the installation of Abita's town playground, the trail that winds through the park and connects to the Tammany Trace, and other projects. Friends of the Park is a non-profit, citizen-run organization dedicated to developing, funding, and implementing park and beautification projects in and around Abita Springs.
