Each March, hundreds of people in the Abita Springs area all have their garage on the same day, and people from all over the region come to find great deals and a good time. Flea market vendors surround Town Hall and multitudes of families around town have their own sales.
The event is held on the last Saturday of March. Be sure to bring an umbrella - the event is rain or shine. Only a deluge with dangerous winds will cancel it.
Parking can be a challenge. The town's lot is behind Mama D's Pizza and More on Hwy. 59 at Leveson St., and the Abita Springs Middle School lot will be open. Street parking will also be available. Or, park outside town and bike the Tammany Trace right to the Trailhead!
If you enjoy garage sales and flea markets, and the ambiance of a small town celebration, don't miss it; this is one of Louisiana's largest "garage sale" events.
First produced in 1994 by the Abita Springs Civic Association and later by the Abita Springs Recreation Committee, the event is produced today by the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum.
