Louisiana's Arbor Day is the third Friday in January. This year, that's January 18, and the Northlake Nature Center is offering nature related educational and healthy active lifestyle programs for school groups, Scouts, and the general public.
The Northlake Nature Center will be planting and reforesting in conjunction with Arbor Day festivities. Bring your group and have fun restoring the habitat for native plants and animals to live. Wear boots and gloves if you'd like, but NNC have seeds and/or seedlings. Please call to notify of your group size. At Mandeville and Covington Farmer's Markets, NNC will provide tree planting information and free seeds and/or seedlings to plant at your home. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer all of your planting questions.
The Northlake Nature Center (NNC) is a non-profit organization provides nature related educational programs and manages a 400-acre Nature Preserve east of Mandeville, LA providing a venue of community service opportunities. The site offers over eight miles of hiking and biking trails and a canoe launch free for public use open from dawn to dusk. Info on supporting NNC may be found at www.northlakenature.org.
