The Northshore Cultural Economy Coalition and the City of Slidell present Art of the Film: Louisiana Film Industry Expo, January 20-21, 2023 at Slidell Municipal Auditorium. The event will take place 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
Attendees will learn of the many facets of the film and video industry and its impact on local communities and economies. The event will feature presentations from a stellar lineup of industry professionals, exhibitions from numerous organizations plus opportunities to get involved in the industry. In conjunction with the 2023 expo the Northshore Collaborative is tentatively planning a luncheon featuring Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser discussing the economic impacts of the film industry in Louisiana. Information and tickets will be announced.
Presenters at the first expo in January 2022 featured Ed and Sue Poole, Hollywood on the Bayou internationally renowned movie experts whose movie poster exhibition, Fifty Shades of Louisiana: A Filmmakers Paradise, was featured concurrently at the Slidell Cultural Center; Linda Thurman, Movie Poster Archives Executive Director; Greg Barnhill, Composer, Songwriter and Master Vocalist; Reid Wick, Senior Membership and Project Manager of the Recording Academy/Grammys; Jay Weigel, Composer, Producer and Conductor; Christopher Stelly, LEDA Executive Group Director, Entertainment & Digital Media; and Trey Burvant, Louisiana Film & Entertainment Association Executive Committee President.
Also featured was a high school students' “Create Your Own Movie” poster competition and exhibition, opportunities for the community to register for film and video industry resource directory. Featured events at the 2023 expo will be announced at http://www.NorthshoreCEC.org/ArtOfTheFilmExpo.
The film expo is supported by the St. Tammany Parish Tourist and Convention Commission/ LouisianaNorthshore.com, St. Tammany Corporation, Movie Poster Archives, The Northshore Collaborative, Slidell Magazine, and by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the St. Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs.
