The Northlake Nature Center (NNC) is located on U.S. Hwy. 190 across from Fontainebleau State Park, on Bayou Castine, just a few minutes east of Mandeville. NNC is a non-profit organization that provides nature related educational programs for school groups, Scouts, and the general public. It offers over seven miles of hiking trails for self-guided tours and a canoe launch free for public use.

Habitats and features at the Nature Center site include a grove of giant southern magnolias, Cypress/gum swamp, and a beaver pond on Bayou Castine where you may see wood ducks, migrant warblers, wild turkeys and numerous species of songbirds.
