It's a day full of family fun with the return of BooFest 2022, happening Saturday, October 29 on the grounds of the Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. With six "Trick-or-Treat Neighborhoods" and tons of fall-themed activities at the event, families are sure to have a great time while helping a great cause: 100% of proceeds go to ACCESS (Adapting and Changing Children’s Environments with Successful Solutions).

The day is packed with fun for the whole family, including pumpkin decorating at the pumpkin patch, arts and crafts area, Trick-or-Treating, all-abilities games, photo booth, music, dancing and more. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume and take part in the annual Boo Fest Costume Contest for the title of “Scariest,” “Most Original” and “Kids Choice” costume. Local businesses and members of the community may get involved in Boo Fest by sponsoring and decorating a trick-or-treat house or castle.

Gates open at 9 a.m. for special needs families and to general public 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is $2 per person.

1) In the unfortunate event of severe rain with lightning occurring BEFORE the start of event, Boo Fest may be cancelled. A final decision and notification will be posted on the “ACCESS Louisiana” Facebook page by 6am on Saturday, October 29.
2) In the event of adverse weather such as severe rain and/or thunder/lightning AFTER the event has started there may be cancellation or temporary stoppage of the event with the decision to resume being made on an hour by hour basis by the Boo Fest coordinating team in conjunction with local public safety personnel.

This "spook-tacular" event aims to have children of all abilities -- disabled and able-bodied alike -- trick-or-treat alongside one another. Since its inception, funds raised from the event have allowed ACCESS to provide grants totaling nearly $250,000 to families of children with disabilities for items not covered by insurance and/or Medicaid, such as wheelchairs, adaptive car seats, bicycles and tricycles, car/home/van modifications and other adaptive equipment and assistive devices. Sponsorships for Boo Fest are available through the Northshore Community Foundation. Call (985) 893-8757.
