Carnival in Covington 2022 Parade & Tammany Gras

Join the fun in celebrating Mardi Gras on the Northshore with Carnival in Covington! The 2022 parade will roll through the streets of historic downtown Covington on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. The theme will be "Wish Upon a Star."

The Celebrity Grand Marshal will be Hayley Arceneaux, the youngest person in the U.S. to go into space. The Grand Marshal is a collective of health care workers from each of St. Tammany Parish's hospitals on board on a float called "Hometown Heroes." The parade includes traditional Mardi Gras floats with plentiful throws, marching groups and dance teams, horses, motorcycles, classic cars and more. Details will be announced as the event nears.

Immediately following the parade is "Tammany Gras", a free party at the Covington Trailhead from 12 p.m. 'til 4 p.m. The event will feature live music by Soul Revival, a costume contest with cool prizes, concessions, a kids' play area and more.

The parade starts in front of St. Tammany Parish Justice Center on Columbia Street and follows a route along Hwy 21/Boston St. to Jefferson Ave., to 15th St., Tyler St., W. 23rd, and then back through downtown again. (See parade map included with this event.)

The Covington Lions Club has brought the celebration of Mardi Gras to downtown Covington since 1959, the Mystic Krewe of Covington (once called the “Krewe of KaaCee for Knights of Columbus) since 1951. "Carnival in Covington" was The Covington Lions Club and the City of Covington joined together to make Mardi Gras celebration the party even bigger for a full day of family fun. The event is supported by the Louisiana Seafood Marketing and Promotions Board, Cleco, greater Covington area businesses and local civic groups.
