Join the fun in celebrating Mardi Gras on the Northshore with Carnival in Covington! The 2023 parade will roll through the streets of historic downtown Covington on Fat Tuesday, February 21. The 15-float procession includes 450+ participants in the form of bands, dance groups, horses, traditional Mardi Gras floats with plentiful throws, local celebrities and more. Immediately following the parade is Tammany Gras, a free party at the Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire Street from noon ‘til 4 p.m. The party features live music, food trucks, drinks, dancing and fun activities for the kids. Costume contests with cash prizes will also be held.
The parade starts in front of St. Tammany Parish Justice Center on Columbia Street and follows a route along Hwy 21/Boston St. to Jefferson Ave., to 15th St., Tyler St., W. 23rd, and then back through downtown again.

Carnival in Covington was established in 2017 by the City of Covington to join with these groups to make Mardi Gras celebration the party even bigger for a full day of family fun. The event is supported by greater Covington area businesses and local civic groups.
