Savor the turn-of-the-century charm with your family and friends and make holiday memories this December with Christmas in the Country, an annual event happening Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, and every Saturday until Christmas in historic downtown Covington. Presented by the merchants of Lee Lane, shops throughout the brightly decorated district offer home furnishings and decor, trendy fashions and accessories, original fine art and antique treasures.
Shops host special events, some with refreshments and live music while you discover one-of-a kind gifts. On the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26, bring your camera to H.J. Smith & Sons Hardware for free photo ops with Santa Claus, and stop by Retro Music Co. as they celebrate their anniversary. Other events will be announced; follow your favorite shops on their Facebook pages.
Entertainment is also on hand at nightclubs in the area throughout the month (see our Event Calendar for info). When you're ready for a break, get an on-the-go fresh lunch, stop at a luxurious spa or salon, or stay for an evening of fine dining at the city's award-winning restaurants.
Weekly, most shops are open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, some on Sundays, and many restaurants are open every day. Parking is free anywhere you go throughout the walkable district.
