The 27th annual Three Rivers Art Festival, one of the largest juried art festivals in the region and most popular events on the Northshore, brings art lovers to downtown Covington each year for two full days of shopping and entertainment on Saturday and Sunday, November 11-12, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission to all activities and events is free.
Stroll the city’s Cultural Arts District and shop from more than 200 artist tents lining both sides of Columbia Street from the 200 Block to the 600 Block. You'll find original artworks by artists from across the United States--accepted from among hundreds of applicants--who work in all kinds of media: paintings and drawings, photography, ceramics, sculptures and kinetic art, functional pottery, fine jewelry, handmade clothing and accessories, and more. Artists' awards are presented at a special event on Saturday night featuring live music starting at 7:30 p.m.
Get a sneak peek of the artists to be featured on each block at https://www.covingtonthreeriversartfestival.com/ and be sure to follow the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival on Facebook for current info (weather updates, etc.), at https://www.facebook.com/Threeriversart.
When you're ready for a break from strolling and shopping, follow the sound of live music, or follow your nose, to the tented food court to relax with a bite to eat and live music. Or, visit one of the many excellent restaurants in the district.
The festival supports and encourages art education for area school children, providing hands-on art activities in the Children's Village, which opens at 10 a.m. each day. The Arts Alive! tent provides live demonstrations by exhibiting artists during the day, storytellers and other entertainers so kids can watch or participate in artistic creation. The festival also hosts a student art competition, displayed during the festival, with awards presented on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Covington Trailhead.
A tent-pole of St. Tammany's long-standing reputation as an arts-oriented community and Mecca for artists and art lovers, the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival was established in 1997 with the sole mission of producing a high-quality arts festival in the heart of the historic St. John District. Designated a Cultural Arts District by Louisiana's Office of Cultural Development, the area boasts art galleries, an excellent art supply store, restaurants, and various clothing boutiques and shops that join in the fun by displaying works by local artists. The festival has become a regional favorite, attracting a sophisticated buying public and a talented group of artists each year.
