Robert H. Burns American Legion Post #16 will be celebrating its third annual Great American Legion Banana Split Celebration on Saturday, August 19, 2023 as a fundraiser for the Northshore Food Bank. From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., original recipe banana splits featuring Hoodoo Ice Cream and Louisiana Fresh bananas will be served at the Legion Hall, 2031 Ronald Reagan Highway in Covington. Tickets for this event are $5 each.  

Dine-in to celebrate with entertainment and prizes or take-out to enjoy this 118 year-old ice cream treat. All funds raised will benefit the Northshore Food Bank and their efforts to provide nutritious meals to those in need in our area. Donations of food will also be accepted during the event. Last year, the event served over 200 banana splits, netting over $1,600 in proceeds for the Northshore Food Bank. American Legion Post #16, founded in 1919, is affiliated with The American Legion, the nation’s largest organization of U.S. wartime veterans and families.
