Introduction to Watercolor is a 4-week course with artist Caryn Lang that acquaints the beginner with the essentials of watercolor painting. Students will explore techniques, methods and various properties of watercolors. A number of exercises will guide students through the preparation and painting process, helping to develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin a personal exploration of the medium and to create basic designs and forms in watercolor. This course is designed for ages 18 and up.
Classes are held 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays in May at the St. Tammany Art Association annex, 323 N. New Hampshire St., Covington. Admission is $165 for STAA members, $200 for non-members. The instructor will provide all supplies for the first session. Supplies will be discussed and a list will be made at that time. Students will then be responsible for buying their own supplies. All supplies are available at Covington's own premier art supply store, Mo’s Art Supply & Framing, 315 N. Columbia St., open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
