The City of Covington and One Covington - Future Leaders of Louisiana invite you to join their annual celebration of Juneteenth on Monday, June 19, 2023, in downtown Covington.
The day's events kicks off with a Freedom Parade through downtown Covington at 10 a.m. Parade lineup starts at 9 a.m. at Peter Atkins Park, 701 N. Tyler St. Covington, and follows a route to Fuhrmann Auditorium, 317 N. Jefferson Ave.
A program and resource fair follows, beginning with a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. The program features speakers and spoken word performances, as well as a vendor fair, arts and crafts, a maypole dance and a roundtable discussion.
All events are free and open to the public. Sponsorships are available.
Coordinators also host the Mr. and Miss Juneteenth competition and a fashion show with models age 10 and up, held Friday, June 16 at Fuhrmann Auditorium. For details and information on how to participate, follow their Facebook page.
