Covington remembers this historical day and celebrates freedom at Covington's Rev. Peter Atkins Park (W. 28th Avenue) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19th.

Event Schedule

9 a.m. - Freedom Parade led by Soul Saint Super Fan

10 a.m.-3 p.m. - Juneteenth Program, Games, Maypole, dancing, vendors, music and food

3 p.m. - Co-ed Softball Game

Juneteenth (June 19th) is the day in history when word came to America's slaves, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, that they were freed from enslavement.

All are welcome to attend this free event. Decorate your vehicle and be a part of a parade; lineup begins at 8:00 am.
