Krewe de Paws of Olde Towne is Slidell’s Canine Carnival Krewe! This dog-friendly event parades through the streets of Olde Towne Slidell. While the krewe took a hiatus from parading in 2022, they return on February 11, 2023 when the theme will be "Back in the Saddle Again." Parade members, their pups and parade-goers are encouraged to dress in theme.
The goal of Krewe de Paws is to bring awareness to pet rescue and adoption, and donates proceeds of the parade to local animal welfare organizations. Registration/membership information for the 2023 parade will be announced as the event nears. In previous years, this has been $20 per dog (proof of current vaccinations required at registration) and $10 per human (walker).
Dogs must be in costume (or extremely decorated with beads, feathers, etc.) to participate. Escorts are encouraged to join in the theme with costumes and floats. Participants must bring bottles of water for their dog to drink during the parade, and are encouraged to have a supply of throws. Floats can be made out of wagons, baby strollers, shopping carts, etc. however, motorized floats are prohibited. Rollerblading, skateboarding and bicycles are not allowed. For all rules/regulations of participation, follow Café du Bone Dog Bakery and Boutique on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KreweDePawsOfOldeTowne.
