The Krewe of Dionysus rolls through the streets of Slidell on Sunday, Frebruary 20, 2022 under the theme, "You Know It's Mardi Gras When... Part Deux." The parade rolls at 1 p.m.

As in years past, Dionysus--also known as Bacchus, the god of wine and inspired madness--will be throwing specialty Krewe logo and signature items, beads and doubloons from the Royal Escorts as they part the crowds for their King and Krewe.

The parade starts informally on Spartan Drive at Fritchie Park and travels west to Pontchartrain Drive (Hwy 11) where it officially begins. The parade then heads north on Pontchartrain Drive into the heart of Slidell, passing many of Slidell’s staple businesses such as Ace Insurance, Castaway’s and the Southside Cafe.  The parade route then quickly jogs north and continues up Front Street (Hwy 11) turning right onto Bouscaren Street until it reaches 2nd Street where it turns left to pass City Hall for the Mayor and King’s Toast.
Then, it's on to Fremaux Avenue, where the parade turns left back to Front Street, where it again turns north. The parade takes a turn east onto one of Slidell’s signature streets, Gause Boulevard (Hwy 190), and heads towards the interstate (I-10), passing Slidell Memorial Hospital, Cross Gates Athletic Club, Copeland’s Restaurant and NOLA Grill before turning onto Kensington Boulevard and ending just before Rouse’s Supermarket.

The Krewe of Dionysus was founded in 1985 by a group of Northshore businessmen with the intention of bringing the first all-male Krewe to Slidell. The club's royalty is selected at the Coronation ball where the king and queen are chosen from the Krewe's maids and members of the King's Club.
