Experience a musical soundscape that is both masterful and evolving with this performance by the LPO that features Golijov’s Last Round - a chamber work that honors Argentina’s beloved tango. With an admirably original orchestration, this multicultural piece is bound to delightfully engage its audience.
Enhancing the program will be feature violinist Philippe Quint, whose re-construction of traditional works will take center stage during Korngold’s Violin Concerto. As one of the leading violinists of his generation, Quint will apply his expert technique to the many melodic and lyrical episodes of this concerto, which is considered Korngold’s most popular piece.
In a triumphant conclusion, the LPO will embark upon Mahler’s Titan symphony. A piece that is a two-part tone poem, using metaphorical content within each movement to integrate the sounds of nature; invoking feelings of nostalgia and an intense yearning.
Program duration is approximately 2 hours including a 20-minute intermission. There will be a pre-concert talk one hour prior to the performance.
