Join the Mande Milkshakers on the Mandeville lakefront, Saturday, January 22, 2022, for the 4th annual Mande Kings Day Parade & Party, starting at 2 p.m. This event was postponed from Jan. 8.
Usually held on the Saturday closest to Kings Day, also known as Three Kings Day, Theophany, Epiphany, or the Twelfth Day of Christmas, the parade heralds the return of Carnival season. The procession starts at the harbor at the 300 block of Jackson Street, heading west along the lakefront to Girod Street, where it turns north and proceeds to the Mandeville Trailhead, 675 Lafitte St., for a free after-party from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
Community members are invited to participate in the Mande King’s Day parade in four categories:
walkers, bike riders, golf carts and vehicles. Parade participants are encouraged to dress up and decorate their vehicles with Carnival flair. Local school bands and groups are invited to participate.
The after-party will feature music, a performance by the Mande Milkshakers, food and refreshments. Donors to the Mande Milkshakers will receive a wristband for Louisiana Seafood Pastalaya, King Cake and Abita Beer and root beer. For information on donating or participating, email email@example.com.
The Mande Milkshakers is the Northshore’s first all-women marching organization. With over 80 members, the ladies work year round promoting the pillars of fun, friendship, fitness and philanthropy through community and charity events.
While many of the group’s appearances are to support other charitable organizations, the Mande Milkshakers organize and host several events of their own in order to promote causes in St. Tammany near and dear to their heart. Since 2016, the Mande Milkshakers supported local organizations at over 100 events, served over 1,000 hours of volunteer service and raised over $80,000 for various charities through organizational philanthropic efforts. This big hearted group of ladies believes the excitement of performing is second only to the joys of giving.
