The City of Covington and the Greater Covington NAACP invite you to the 32nd Birthday Celebration Commemorating the 91st Birthday of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (born: January 15, 1929). This year's theme: “Give Us the Ballot.”
Throughout his life, Dr. King was focused on serving mankind, and Dr. King's legacy is honored through random acts of kindness. This can empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems that moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. It all starts with one act – one smile, one coffee for a stranger, one favor for a friend. It’s an opportunity for a community to leave the world better than they found it and inspire others to do the same.
The 2020 celebration begins with a poster and essay contest sponsored by the Greater Covington NAACP. First and second place winners will be chosen in four categories: grades K-3, grades 4-7, grades 8-12 and adults, with prizes for those in attendance, and for first place winners, the opportunity to read their essays or display their posters during the holiday celebration at Fuhrmann Auditorium on January 20, 2020. (Entries due January 15, winners notified January 18.)
