The premier Mardi Gras walking parade featuring man's best friends, and their families, puts some bark into the Mardi Gras scene. The parade rolls and strolls along the Mandeville Lakefront at 2pm on March 10. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this year's theme, "SuperPaws!" will transform the lakefront into a giant "Bark-a-Con" celebrating all things from comic book culture--superheroes, wizards, space ships, zombies and more.
Founded in 1999, the Mystic Krewe of Mardi Paws features dogs sashaying in costume along the Mandeville lakefront in this fun parade that raises funds for area animal agencies. Proceeds benefit the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. Arthur Hardy, noted carnival historian, gives Mardi Paws credit for being the only krewe to parade after Fat Tuesday, thus avoiding any competition!
Same-day registration takes place at the Mandeville Harbor at 12:30pm. The harbor is at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. The Reviewing Stand, where the "coronation" will be officiated, is located near the gazebo at the end of Lafitte Street.
