Join the City of Slidell for the new exhibit Noel Rockmore: Portraits & Passions from the New Orleans Museum of Art, on display in the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall. This exhibit opens as part of Arts Evening on Saturday, April 6, 5-9 pm, and is on display Wednesdays through Fridays through May 24, 2019.
This exhibit examines works spanning the career of one of the most prodigious artists of the 20th century. From his Preservation Hall jazz portraits to surreal, imagined scenes, Rockmore explored the spaces between fantasy and reality, hope and despair, life and death. From the permanent collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art, this selection of paintings, prints, and drawings highlight the diversity and complexity of Rockmore's artistic practice.
The Slidell Cultural Center is located at 2055 Second Street, on the first floor of City Hall in Olde Towne Slidell. Gallery hours are Wednesdays and Fridays, 12-4 pm, and Thursdays 12-6 pm. Admission is free.
