This Memorial Day Weekend, the St. Timothy on the Northshore UMC Choir will present their 7th annual "Of Thee I Sing, A Patriotic Celebration." The concert will be Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the church, located at 335 Asbury Dr. in Mandeville.
The choir, along with featured soloists, will be accompanied by a brass ensemble made up of local professional musicians. Program highlights include the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Goin' Home," "Blades of Grass and Pure White Stones " as well as Dan Forrest’s beautiful arrangement of the Navy hymn "Eternal Father, Strong to Save." A special "Armed Forces Salute" highlighting the theme songs from each branch of the military will honor both active and veteran military personnel.
The concert will also include a moving memorial slideshow and a tribute to military families. The audience also will be invited to join in a sing-a-long. It has become a tradition to end the program with and "Let There be Peace on Earth" with the audience joining the choir to sing the final chorus. All current and past members of the military and their families are encouraged to attend.
The concert is free and open to the public. Free tickets are available and recommended.
