Students will learn step by step how to throw basic forms on the potter’s wheel. In the first two classes, students will learn and practice making different vessels that could be wheel thrown such as mugs, bowls and plates. Students will trim their thrown pieces and then work with stamps and tools to add different textures, designs, and attachments to their work. In the last class students will apply glazes and the instructor will give students a time and date to pick up their fired pieces.
All ages are welcome; however, students under the age of 15 require adult supervision. Beginner level and continuing education students welcome.
Three classes will be held; 1-3 p.m. Sundays, May 15-29, at the St. Tammany Art Association annex, 323 N. New Hampshire St., Covington. Admission is $200 for STAA members, $250 for non-members; all supplies provided, and $25 supply fee included in tuition.
