Artists celebrate the integral roles the arts have played in celebrating the human spirit throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in Reinvention: Creative Pivots in the Pandemic, on display at the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall beginning Friday, July 23, 2021 with an opening reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Presented by Artists & Causes, the City of Slidell, Louisiana and Northshore Cultural Economy Coalition, the exhibit features artists Connie Born, Mary Christopher, Charlotte Lowry Collins, Robert Dutruch, Vanessa Hock Art, Kelly Landrum-Hammell, Matt Litchliter, Mandie Manzano, Al Reisz, and Abby Sands, artist (and now author) Rose Marie Sand and curator Kim Bergeron.

The exhibition also includes a 3D animated music video, an international collaboration between local musician Savej and Austrian animator TAS.

The community is invited to share notes for inclusion in a COVID-19 time capsule, documenting these unprecedented times for future generations. All events are free and open to the public.

This event was funded in part by a grant from New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. The community time capsule is sponsored by St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs, and submissions can be submitted via St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce during the City of Slidell, Louisiana's White Linen and Lagniappe Night, Saturday, August 14, 5 to 9 pm.

Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Viewings are by appointment only by calling the Department of Cultural & Public Affairs at (985) 646-4375.
