The friends and volunteers of the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana present the 5th annual free holiday festival, Slidell's Bayou Christmas, December 19-23, 2018 in Slidell's Heritage Park.
Slidell's Bayou Christmas features lighted displays--over 80,000 lights--animated to holiday music and free pictures for all children nightly in Santa's Village. This is a holiday festival for the whole family: all activities are free.
An opening ceremony will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, Dec.19, and continues nightly through Sunday, Dec. 23, opening at 6:00 PM each night. The festive event features Crescent City Amusements rides, live entertainment each night by local dance groups, schools, choirs, bands, choruses and more, and pictures with Santa. Local restaurants and caterers will have food for purchase.
Be sure to check the Bayou Christmas Facebook Page for nightly schedules, as other community activities may be announced.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
On Saturday, December 22, fest-goers will also enjoy a free screening of a family-friendly holiday movie sponsored by the City of Slidell Dept. of Cultural and Public Affairs. The movie will be announced on the group's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SlidellBayouChristmas/
While entertainment and rides close on Sunday, displays will remain lighted for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.
Fest-goers can park in a lot on Pennsylvania St. & Bayou Lane (just off Front Street) and ride to Heritage Park by shuttle (runs nightly).
Slidell's Bayou Christmas is our yearly fundraiser for the Slidell Boys & Girls Club of Slidell. For over 40 years, the nonprofit has provided youth in Slidell a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun, friendship, and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Priority programs emphasize academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Come join the fun while raising money and awareness for Slidell's Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana.
