The Harbor Center's Lobby Lounge listening room invites you to the last "Up Close and Musical" concert of 2019, happening Wednesday, November 13 and featuring Ellisa Sun, who just wrapped up her yearlong nationwide “Dreamboat Tour." Sun is joined by special guest Grace Russell.
Ellisa Sun performed at The Lobby Lounge last January, and since then has toured the country, relocated to Nashville, and has agreed to return to her “favorite venue” to help the Lounge close a successful first year of community concerts. Opening for Sun is local rising star Grace Russell. Grace is from Mandeville and recently won the “Rising Stars” Talent Show.
This will be an extra-special show with announcements and free ticket drawings for the Lobby Lounge's 2020 season.
The concert is 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Grace Russell performs from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, followed immediately by Ellisa Sun. Tickets start at $17 and are available in advance only on EventBrite.
Raised in the City of Angels, Ellisa migrated north and found a home in San Francisco’s creative scene, where she wrangled a seven-piece band to play her music. Her sound is heartfelt, honest, and textured, combining elements of R&B, Bossa Nova and Soul. Comparisons to artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Norah Jones come naturally.
Ellisa released her self-produced debut album Moon & Sun in 2017. In a short time, Ellisa has garnered much critical acclaim. SF Weekly called her song Unravel “as near to perfect as any song could be” and “damn gorgeous.”
Since releasing her album, Ellisa has played up and down the West Coast, from the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles to the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, to basement clubs in Portland, and in the past year, across the US on a national tour. Ellisa and her guitar have also earned frequent flyer miles, performing overseas in Japan and throughout South America.
The Lobby Lounge is an intimate listening room inside The Harbor Center in Slidell. The 124-seat venue hosts nationally touring acts throughout the year, focusing on artists from the worlds of indie rock, folk, country, jazz, blues and more. Performances are acoustic or lightly amplified, in a Bohemian-style, smoke-free setting. Plenty of free parking, including covered entrance with food and drink available for purchase. Tickets start at $17 for general admission (higher for reserved seating), available in advance only on Eventbrite.
