The Wildlife Refuges of Southeast Louisiana and Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges, Inc. invite you to participate in their virtual event, Walk for the Wild, in celebration of National Wildlife Refuge week, October 8-15, 2022.
With a mission to empower wildlife and humans to thrive, the challenge aims to get people moving a distance of 5K in nature and to raise funds and awareness in support of the Wildlife Refuges in Southeast Louisiana.
Walk for the Wild is a virtual event with educational opportunities to enjoy while on your walk outdoors:
Nature Photo Hunt: Photograph five items you observe and share on sponsors' Facebook pages, https://www.facebook.com/SoutheastLouisiana, or https://www.facebook.com/LouisianaFriends. You can also email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
BioBlitz: Visit one of the nine Southeast Louisiana Refuges during October 8-15, 2022 and record any animals or plants you observe using the iNaturalist app. Or, take a photo and upload to www.iNaturalist.org. Participate all week in finding and submitting at least 10 observations.
Suggested 5K routes on area refuges will be posted on sponsors' Facebook pages, so get your walking shoes ready!
