Wild Things 2023

Excitement is building, and preparations are underway for the 23rd annual Wild Things celebration in Lacombe on Saturday, October 14, 2023 – back by popular demand from COVID hiatus. This free event is coordinated with National Wildlife Refuge Week, a national initiative to connect people to nature and promote outdoor stewardship. Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge is encouraging everyone to “Find Your Way to National Wildlife Refuges, celebrating the rivers and trails of the refuge system.”

Wild Things helps people of all ages to connect with the wild things and places that make Louisiana special. The 23rd Annual Wild Things Celebration will be Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bayou Lacombe Center, the headquarters for the nine National Wildlife Refuges in Southeast Louisiana. Enjoy family-friendly outdoor activities including children’s activities, live animals, live music, bayou boat and canoe tours and much more. Visitors will also get the opportunity to learn more about Louisiana wildlife and wildlands. Food will be available for purchase from the Friends of the Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges, Inc., a non-profit organization that supports conservation and education projects throughout the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges Complex.
