Have a teen that’s interested in ceramics or wants to hone their skills? In this camp, hosted by resident ceramics instructor Janie Dick, students will explore old and new techniques used throughout history in ceramics while creating functional and sculptural work inspired by ceramic artists. Students will split their time between the potter’s wheel and developing hand-building techniques. Once their pieces are completed, Janie will teach students about the firing process and how to fire pottery using an electric kiln.
This six-day camp is designed for ages 13 to 18 and takes place July 18, 20, 22, 25, 27 and 29, 5-8 p.m. each day, at the St. Tammany Art Association annex, 323 N. New Hampshire St., Covington. Admission is $275 for STAA members, $300 for non-members. All supplies are included, $40 supply fee included.
