The Boy Scout Road Boardwalk interpretive trail, located within the Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, is a 2-mile, dog friendly, looping trail from the interpretive boardwalk at the trailhead to an overlook of Bayou Lacombe, passing through the pine savannah and marshes of the refuge. Being in the Mississippi flyway, the trail is a great place to spot the Red-cockaded Woodpecker and a wide variety of migrating bird species, from late March to early May, and in late September-October.
